Work - Part 1

I have never been someone who took much pride in what I do for a living. It's not that I don't have a good work ethic or that I don't strive to be a good employee. I'm still looking for a job that suits me too, but like your liberal arts education, I had to go and take the art school route. Can't seem to find a creative job at all. Been five years at my current job and really eager to move on, but can't just quit. Took today off, I really didn't want to go in after a three day weekend and a great night at Ceremony. I have to turn this around somehow.

I hear you. No matter how much I try to make the best of my chosen field, it keeps getting me down. I'm not in a position to be able to do anything radical for a while, but someday, I hope to find something that aligns better with my interests. For now, I have to suck it up because I can't afford a pay cut.

Believing in what your company definitely helps. My brief stint at MathWorks (before we moved to Pittsburgh) helped me feel better about what I did since their software helps science in many different ways. I'm working at a bank now though and honestly, being in the financial sector stinks. There isn't a whole lot that I can find redeeming about it...yet.

Waiting to hear back about job offers is one of the most stressful things in the world. I wish you lots of good luck.

I'm always excited when I hear about people who have a similar background and career progression like I have since I feel like I'm in the minority. I just need to figure out how to deal with the corporate world a little better. At the end of the day, I never feel like I achieved something that I am proud of.

What are some things that you like about your job?
