All the bad characterization aside... the whole zanpakutou thing is just. what. I mean I've been RPing Bleach characters for a while, that's a point I've SCOURED canon on to try to figure out what the heck is up with it and yeah no. IT'S LIKE MARYURI SAYS THERE and also what Ichigo's other self tells him when he's doing the vaizard training thing that he is Zangetsu just as Zangetsu is Ichigo('s power). The zanpakutou very clearly originate INTERNALLY from the shinigami's soul and not externally that a shinigami can make a "contract" with. I'd go so far that the whole idea of having to make a zanpakutou submit like Ichigo does for bankai training is just in a sense an extended metaphor for training to gain control of oneself and one's own strength and... yeah orz

Actually as I was explaining to Gongji, outside of the direct plot, everyone is pretty IC-- Nanao and Shunsui come to mind (Shunsui losing a fight aside). But when you start applying the PLOT to people, like Hitsugaya being a traitor, Yamajii being UTTERLY retarded (is it just me or do they make him out to be totally harsh and mean in filler and things?) and other stuff, it's... yeah.

But. I totally agree on the Zanpakutou part. OTL.

And yeah, they're... SPECIAL. The first one actually managed to retcon itself with "we can't remember what's not supposed to exist, so we'll forget ALL ABOUT THIS in a few minutes." It was amazing.

DAMMIT, HIT POST TOO SOON :/

I came here from capslock_bleach...this movie was so lolariously made of fail, plotkai, OMG HAX and QUALITY FREAKING ANIMATION that I could barely drink my beer and watch it without choking from laughter.

Seriously, are they even TRYING anymore? ("Jumped the shark" is a phrase that kind of comes to mind...)

And why are the filler animators in charge of the animation here? What happened to ZOMG HAWT!SEXY Ichigo (remember him?) and pals? I haven't seen so much DURR! and DOH! and stupidface since the Bount arc (current filler arc excluded, as I haven't been watching it). And I haven't seen that much walleye since my last fishing trip...srsly.

I'm not even gonna try and tackle the multitude of fails that this so-called "plot" involves. Toss canon out the window, as it obviously doesn't apply. I think maybe the writers sat around with a big bong and beer keg, and came up with ideas by throwing darts at a dartboard.

The plot was... I mean, everyone knew they were only doing it to capitalize on Hitsugaya's popularity. It gave him background and an ANGSTY one at that! But the manga just went and debunked HALF of the plot in the nine months since the movie came out and. Nnngh. It's Bleach anime, that's all.

The animation makes me sad because like... there was so much they could have done with it, but you get distracted by GREMLIN-RUKIA and durr faces and the beginning and end weren't bad but. Wtf was up with some of Hitsugaya's expressions? They made him look like Yamajii.
