how does one respond when someone that they love says: "i just wish you would say your sorry or that you understand!" when your NOT sorry and you DONT understand?! its a perplexing situation,indeed. perhaps my head will just explode.

you could respond with "i'm sorry that i don't understand. will you please take a little more time to talk to me about your side, because i genuinely want to know and it will help me to appreciate the situation."

not to belittle what seems like a very frusterating situation, but this totally sounds like a male stand up comedian talking about how much women dont make sense.

well, lacy, you get "east coast" and you tell them straight up that your "not sorry" and that you "don't understand." it's really that simple. you tell them how you feel and why, taking great care to present what it is you need to say in the context of trying to understand. you ask them to explain their side, their need to hear an apology (for whatever it is your apologizing about) and their need to know that you comprehend their POV.

if you truly love this person then you should be willing to put yourself at risk, emotionally speaking, and tell them how you really feel and air the differences that are present. but, this is just me and you know how i am, blunt and direct. good luck.

please keep your head, it's full of some really precious stuff. memories and smartness and you understand a lot a lot of things. it is impossible to read someone's mind and sometimes really hard to make yourself want to.
