Poor little puppy...

My poor little puppy... as per vet instructions, I gave him a pill this morning so he wouldn't be so anxious during his appointment. Which drug did they give you to give him?

Also, they can sedate him there. Why don't they just give him a shot? Are you unwilling to have him sedated for this? We deal with aggressive dogs all the time and pull stuff off, even if it's giving an injection to sedate enough to deal with them more fully. Then again, I have also found that techs are day practices are a lot more easily scared by what they consider an aggressive than emergency techs are. Mostly because, well, if you bring your dog to the er we have no choice, we have to figure out how to make it work.

The bottle says it's promazine. The vet never suggested giving him a shot, she just said to use the pills. He's never bitten anyone, and he doesn't growl at people, he just tries to get away. But it did take three people today to cut his nails, so yeah, he's not the calmest dog in the world when he's at the vet's office.

My mother's dog, on the other hand, is very easygoing during appointments and nail trims.

Lots of dogs are squirmy at the vet, though. You just need to know how to restrain them properly. Most dogs hate the vet's office.
