shy lifeguard and I played chess at around 2:30ish and then again at 7. it was great fun. he offered to teach me how to play tennis! so that's an opening. tonight, though, I'm going to avoid the aquatic center as much as possible and treat myself to a movie. So things are going well tonight and at the beginning of the third game of chess, I said you wanna hang out sometime? he responds, when? I said I dunno, whenever and he says I dunno. so I said well, I was going to go see that movie and thought you might like to come with, he said when? I said tonight after work. he said I don't think I can. so NYAH you were wrong. so I sorta threw the game, said you got this, tipped my king. he stood it back up and said never give up. and said never give up like three times in the next five minutes and don't think negatively etc. he's trying to make me not embarrassed, I guess. but so much for that. on the brighter side, friend at school is going to bring me a book called "the rules" and is going to school me in the art of pretending not to care about anything to attract men.

Anyway, I don't know this shy lifeguard guy, and eminent death on the mud prevents me from delving further at the moment. But does indeed seem interested, I think his comments about not giving up were probably indirectly or directly related to him not wanting you to give up on him.

Who knows what his plans were, perhaps it's better you didn't. ;)
Sounds like he was just nervous.

hey, pdog :) thanks for the encouragement!

I'd like to think he's still interested. things have been wierd between us since that night. he doesn't smile at me anymore, though he does acknowledge me with a nod when I come in. we've played one game of chess since that night and I beat him and he got up and walked away. so odds are, if he's interested, he's not sure how to behave. :P this is entirely my fault. I shouldn't have asked him out, then I'd have his smiles every day still. truth is, I don't know that it really matters at this point.
