One of my gowns was nominated and selected as a Daily Deviation on DeviantArt yesterday.  This is a very big honor.  I am very flattered.  The only downside I see is that they picked the 2005 version of the AH gown, which doesn't exist anymore.  Still, at the time I was proud of it, so I suppose that is all that matters.    I still owe the person ( Read more... )

What a beautiful weekend.  Saturday the weather was a bit blah.  I went to the mall and found a dress for Niki's wedding.  I got it at the Black and White store.  I've had such good luck there I think every time I need a dress I am going to look there first.  It's black with white flowers with a deep v (well not too deep) halter and comes just ( Read more... )

One of my neighbors has been looping Dark Side of the Moon for the last three hours.  Is it bad that I can tell it is Pink Floyd just by the bass coming through the wall?

Oh well.  Back to Jeeves and Wooster.  So funny.

I'm home.  I am exhausted.  It was a very long, but rewarding weekend. 
Friday I wrapped up sewing the last button on right about 10:00, some quick final packing and then I just dropped.  Up at 5:00 on Saturday, and out the door at 6:00.  I made wonderful time to Janesville, grabbed some food and still was on site about 30 minutes before call time ( Read more... )

We're totally getting there.  Underskirt/petticoat (depending on who you talk to) done except for hemming.  Forepart, done except for hemming and eventual beading and guarding the bottom.  Over skirt, done except for hemming, possibly adding another layer of trim (but I'll talk about that later) and guarding the bottom.  Bodice, getting there.  ( Read more... )

Last night I sewed down six of my ten lines of trim on my skirt (it's stacked so it's not very wide).  Well, I hated the way it looked because it was a little wobbly so I ripped it off and started again.  I've got six of now twelve lines stitched on.  I'm hand couching the twisted cording because if I tried to machine it it would just look weird ( Read more... )

Beltane and a full moon.  What are the odds and I know this isn't likely to happen again for a long time.  This is a truly special night for all who celebrate. 

I showed Kate my sketches and my swatches and trims (granted she had seen prelim sketches and some of the swatches before) and she said "Okay, looks great.  Can I keep it?" That was it.  I'm going to make color photo copies of my sketches and bind it all up in a binder for Kate, but yeah.  I don't know why I was paranoid.  Still, I know that a lot ( Read more... )
