Well after two weeks of leading theater games amongst kids who are still young enough to see the humor in the silliness of them, doing gofer duties, helping 20 children take to the stage and develop characters, and rediscovering the abilities of my diaphragm in a disciplinary context (a well-supported "HEY!" can now quiet a room...), the play I've ( Read more... )

I think I've always worried that saying, "Break a leg!" might work something like a double negative, and actually call the spirits of disaster and misfortune to the person I'm addressing.

Hurray for the kids!

As someone who fell onstage the show she heard it the most...

Ooh, I love theater, and I love children. :o Your position is quite envy-inducing to me.

It's a lot of work (consuming every moment of my waking life) and I barely get paid, but it's been rewarding so far. You get amazingly good at multitasking when you have to respond to the demands of a million littluns at once...

Hello, I'm here from mari4212's journal. She says you are someone worth friending. And, since you are helping to put on a play of one of my favorite stories ever, I'm guessing she's right. Everyone has to be right once in a while eh?

Your kids sound like a riot. As advice from someone who has only ever been in one play his entire life, tell your kids that one hour before curtain call is NOT the time to try getting to the theater on bike by using the shortcut over the library stairs (I promptly went over my handle bars and chipped a bone in my wrist an hour before our last performance, so I HAVE broken an arm out there. It really isn't all it's cracked up to be).

Best of luck, everything sounds great.
