I'm almost done reading my book (The Dome by Stephen King.) Can anyone recommend a new one? I'm not into heavy Scifi or fantasy (shocking, I know) but there are occasional exceptions to that rule.
I highly recommend the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters. Relatively short, amusing yet smart, etc. Mysteries set in late 19th/early 20th century Egypt--the heroine is an archeologist. There are about eleventy-billion of them, but the first one is Crocodile on the Sandbank.
Do you like mysteries? The Sue Grafton alphabet series is easy going and entertaining. Kinsey Millhone is a PI. A is for Alibi B is for Burglary etc. (she's up to U right now)
We also both LOVE Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. Stephanie is a Jersey girl who becomes a bounty hounter to make ends meet. Hilarity regularly ensues. One for the Money Two for the Dough etc. (there are 16 of them so far)
