Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

I'm getting a mostly normal amount of sleep for me, but for the past couple of weeks I've felt mentally exhausted! I hate this feeling. It makes my head hurt. It is pretty much all thanks to work. Relocating a business is scary! I'm freaked out that I'm going to forget something critical that I need for the move or something like that. Yes, silly, ( Read more... )

Yeah Y: The Last Man is pretty good, they actually got only a couple of more issues left and then the whole story will be wrapped up. Vaughan has written a bunch more good graphic novels/comics as well. A lotta people LOVE Pride of Baghdad but, I am so so about it ( ... )

Thanks for the recommendations. I read the Great
Gatsby a loooong time ago but don't remember it well. I'm definitely gonna check out the Vonnegut though. And I find it surprisinglt that I've never read The Hobbit, considering what a big fantasy fanatic I used to be.

If you like urban fantasy, I'm recently enamoured with the Dresden series by Jim Butcher. For sort of untraditional vampire fantasy, the Dhampir series by the Hendees. If you're into F/SF, then I got plenty more where that came from.

Thanks! I have always liked SF/F but haven't read as much of it in recent years. But I've never read either of the series you recommended, so I'll have to check them out.

Have you read "The Time Traveler's Wife" or "The Secret History?" Both pretty long, meaty books that will help pass the time, but also two of my favorite books of all time. Both have just a touch of funky fantasy thrown in too, despite the fact they they are straight fiction. I think you'd dig them.

Oooo. I LOVE "The Time Traveler's Wife!" It is an incredible book that made me depressed for days. I haven't heard of "The Secret History" though. Who is it by?

The Secret History is by Donna Tartt.

You absolutely must read: EAT PRAY LOVE by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's about her self-discovery in Italy, India and Indonesia after a terrible divorce. It's very spiritual, hilarious, and her description of places and food, make you feel as if you are there with her.

My friend and I got to meet her here a couple weekends ago at a book signing. Her book is now on the New York Times Bestseller list. I can't recommend it enough, and to the friends I did, they have thanked me profusely.
