Why installing things yourself is not always a good idea

I dropped my car off for an oil change this morning. The guy at the service desk was on the phone, describing a needed repair to someone. Here is what happened, and it was too forehead-slapping not to share

Duh!! XoP How dumb can you get? He is lucky he didn't blow himself up. Gas + one spark = BOOOOM!!!

If you're going to do something yourself to your car or another appliance, get a good repair manual, proper tools, and be very, VERY careful. A friend with experience is also terrific to have on hand.

Practicality aside, I think this is a very funny anecdote ^^
