I usually get these done before the actual end of the year, but heck - this is entirely for my own benefit anyway. ;-)
JANUARY:
- Made 3 resolutions, none of which I kept even a little bit.
- Saw “Evil Dead: the Musical”, which I loved. (Saw it twice, in fact.)
- Went to
Further Confusion for a day, which was a lot of fun. Might go back this year.
FEBRUARY:
- Played Janet-as-Madonna for the
Rocky Horror Rock Star Show. Never were there so many costume changes!
- Made a
David Bowie cake for
pickleschaparal’s birthday, featuring what would be the first of several increasingly complex frozen buttercream transfers I made over the course of the year.
- Attended a Lobby Day to fight for the repeal of Proposition 8, which included attending an Assembly Committee Hearing on the matter. It was an interesting and educational day, and I’m proud to have been involved.
MARCH:
- After 8 years as my roommate,
silentbob037 moved out to live with his girlfriend
kelkelrenee. Tom and I got a new roommate, a college student named Josh. (He later had to move back home due to the lousy economy, and was replaced by my friend Jonathan.)
- Tom survived an attempted beat-down from a little old lady who was furious he’d gotten the last of the cherry Hamantaschen cookies at a local bagel shop on Purim. My sweetie, he fights for me ...
- Celebrated my 32nd birthday.
APRIL:
- Tom got a new job working for a company across the street from my office.
- Saw Jeff Dunham at the SJ Arena, which was a great show.
MAY:
- Baycon! It was my first year on staff, working in the Consuite. I also made some more
complex cakes for our staff party.
- The Bawdy Caste did a live performance of “Clue,” which was a lot of fun.
JUNE:
- "Spamalot" finally came to San Francisco. Tom and I had tickets, but we were given better ones at the last minute by a friend of my mother's. We had to rush to the city, though, getting there 5 minutes before it started. Worth it!
- The Celebrity Death March of ‘09 kicked into high gear with the passings of Ed MacMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Billy Mays, and David Carradine. And the RHPS jokes abounded ...
JULY:
- Tom and I celebrated our 1-year anniversary. Awww.
- We put on our 50s gear for the Rocky Horror Sock Hop Show on the 4th of July.
- I entered the
Threadcakes contest, creating yet another super-complex design. I didn’t place, but I was extremely proud of my work!
AUGUST:
- Went with Jeb and Brittany down to L.A. to visit
eorlover, tour Hollywood, and see
mistermerlin in Sins O' the Flesh's performance of "Shock Treatment".
- Got my first pair of
glasses, which I use for my work computer. It does seem to have reduced my eyestrain headaches, which is good.
SEPTEMBER:
- Got Beatles Rock Band. Yay, Beatles Rock Band!
- Found a one-week-old kitten in my office parking lot. He was taken to foster care and is reportedly doing very well. (He’s likely been adopted by now.)
OCTOBER:
- Made my annual trip to Toronto - and this time, Tom came with me! He’s already talking about this year’s trip. :-)
- Found two MORE kittens, these around 1 month old (probably littermates of the one I found before) in a shed behind my office. One of them ended up coming to my home and never leaving: my sweet little
Nico!
- Spent Halloween in San Francisco (bookended by two RHPS shows) and dressed as
Jessie the cowgirl from “Toy Story 2”.
NOVEMBER:
- Tom and I hosted my father for Thanksgiving, which was nice.
DECEMBER:
- Nico met
Santa Paws and became
Santa Claws.
- Tom and I saw the Squirrel Nut Zippers at a club in SF that was so crowded I had to dance in place all night.
- And then there was the Big Cake Project, but technically, that’s for the 2010 roundup ...
