Top O' the Morning!

I realized the other day that I've made a cake for every "significant" US holiday, including those I don't really celebrate ... except for St. Patrick's Day, which I obviously hold great affection for. Why would I not make a cake on my own birthday? No idea. But I've remedied that now!

The cake looks very cool, and perfect for St. Patty’s day. I hope you had a great birthday full of luck and joy.

But I hate to tell you that disco dust is for non-edible decorations only. It’s not meant to be eaten. We sell it at work. You might find that your bathroom visits sparkle more then usual for a few days.

But ... but they told me at the cake store that it was edible!

Great.

They are classified as "non-toxic for decoration only". It shouldn't hurt you. It's just not meant to be eaten.

I just called the cake store. They said that THEY thought it was edible too, and their professional decorators have used it many times on cakes with no adverse effects. I told them I checked CK's site and it does indeed say "not a food product". A not-too-difficult mistake to make, I'll grant, given that they mostly vend cake decorating products. Nonetheless, the lady I spoke to is going to call CK and ... and I don't know what she's going to do. But at least they know now and won't continue to market it as a sparklier form of luster dust.
