It's wonderful, and so surprising with the relationships sometimes - I love it.
Sigh, TVD. I hear you completely. I think the show just jerks us around so much and has done so for a good two seasons that it's just completely frustrating. That said, I'm weirdly okay with this season - but I think that that's because I've disconnected from it, and I'm half-indifferent too.
I miss that group of kids who were getting progressively darker and more damaged as they grew up - I feel like at its core, the show is a coming of age story wrapped in supernatural shenanigans. And that's always always been its greatest strength. Even in the midst of worthless episodes, it's these tiny moments where that core group of characters connect that hit me square in the gut. Funnily enough, it almost feels like this season is attempting to recapture some of that with varying success so far.
(I just said in a comment to someone yesterday that I approach this show in a "LOL K" way and therefore very few things ruffle my feathers anymore, I just sit back and take a shot - metaphorically... mostly). Yeah, this. Last season was the one where the show broke me, lol. And it wasn't too long ago that I'd become incoherent with rage over things. Now I just cackle and get drunk beforehand. Um, life is good?
Lowered expectations are the way. I think I've just made peace with the fact that this show is crazy inconsistent and myopic. There are some things that I think it's (mostly) genuinely brilliant with (the doppelganger narratives, subversion of any tropes involving Damon…). Aaaaand I'm not really investing hopes into anything else. Which is fine? I'm not bitter about it. It's better this way~~~
(I should pull an Elena and have a funeral for the girl I used to beeeeeeeeeeeeeeee cue: music). I'll bring the tequila
( ... )
You know I am in accord, lol. Thursday night comedy hour tbh.
Yes and yes.
Bring me some whiskey and you've got yourself a deal (whiskey straight kinda girl these days).
My sun and stars, oh Baldy.
Joan + Sherlock, man. Ughhhh.
I will watch season four of BTVS (that was a hard sell, lol). YES. PLEASE CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT SHOW? CAN WE TALK ABOUT ALL THE WHEDONVERSE THINGS ONE DAY? Ugh, now I'm unreasonably excited about this.
I adore so much of what this show is doing character and relationship-wise. Agreed! The character development and the dynamic between Holmes and Watson is really one of my favorite parts of this show. And I also enjoy the relationship between Gregson and Holmes too. :D
ugh dont say BSG. it still hurts especially with the not so interesting tv on nowadays. still mourning the loss of caprica as well. why did you leave meee? Vamp Ds... man, checked out since early season 3 and yeah...ah well...*goes back to her anime*
ps : season 3 of Walking dead is killing everything in sight... mind you there wasn't much to kill anyways.
Late to commenting, but I can totally relate to your describing your TVD watching as "LOL K" because I often feel that way. I just have reached a point where I selectively invest and try to enjoy what I can enjoy, while trying to not get sucked into raging over the many terrible/problematic aspects of the show. alas.
ELEMENTARY is glorious. And I'm not sure if you started rewatching BtVS season 4, but I like to think of that as the Happy Buffy season.
