I haven't posted regularly on LJ since 2011. Returned for a couple months in 2015, but other than that, I've treated this site like it doesn't exist.
Why?
Because everyone else has.
That's the real reason, as much as it pains me to admit it. I didn't want to stop posting. I sure as hell didn't want to replace LJ with Facebook or any other

As for fickle situations… yes, we're all prey to that on some level. Sometimes we have to rebel against it to find the things that work for us.

I still log in every day, though I haven't posted since mid-2015. Just feels like everything is go-go-go-sound-bytes-through-12-different-platforms and I just can't keep up. It's weird...as I get older, I can't tell if the world's speeding up or I'm just slowing down. Hah! I'm going to make the best Grumpy Old Lady because I've been practicing for a long time already.
It's great to see you, though...and yeah, I think we'd all benefit from a slower paced form of social media, and I'd like to hang out more here, if there were just some more people to talk to. Well, this is a start, eh?

I love that you still login every day, regardless of how long it's been since you've posted. That said, I'd love to hear all about what you're up to these days… I hope you'll consider updating in the near future.

Other than that, I feel the exact same way as you. The ONLY thing that keeps me on Facebook is people I care about… people who won't use other sites. :/ If it weren't for them, I'd be THRILLED to delete my FB account and do all my socializing over here/on my own sites.
It's not one or the other, though. With a little extra effort, there's no reason we can't have both. <3
