I suspected as much! Calamity Physics is an EPIC of high school proportions, and they'll adapt the hell out of anything about high school. however, I can't see how any film adaptation would resemble the book in the least. the in-text citations, language, and illustrations, of course, will most likely be lost or glossed over in such a way that the viewer doesn't get a good idea of how important these things were to telling the story. even though I really liked "Half Nelson" ... I dunno. I, too, am wary!
Went to school with Ryan Fleck. Very talented and a great guy. He may be the sole exception in my experience to the rule "success in film is directly proportional to how much of an asshole you were in Film School".

Right now I'm finishing The Historian, which is neat and vampire history travelogue, but interesting and into research and sometimes kinda scary.
Also, I really liked Time Traveler's Wife (as mentioned above).
Have you read The Secret History? Calamity Physics got a ton of "oh it's just like" about that one.

Unfortunately he is only writing the thing (w/ his writing partner)... still a lot of room to fuck it up between script and final cut.
