I play at Runescape a fair bit. Graphics are pretty poor (although improving), the skill system is really well done, and I enjoy it a great deal. I spend my free time at home doing it, which should tell you a fair bit. :)
They have a free-be portion, and a pay version ($5 a month, so pretty reasonable). You don't get all the skills/items/whatever for the free portion, but you get some.
I might be able to handle $5 a month. I just can't handle the supersize prices of WoW or Evercrack. ;)
I'll relay that one on to her. I don't know if she's already checked it out or not, but if not, she might get a kick out of it. She's an artist, so graphics are important to her, but if they're slowly improving she might be willing to stick around for it for a while. :)
She should check the news to see the improvements that are upcoming. They may still be too bad for her. But I really enjoy the system, as I said. Complicated and interwoven enough to keep me interested, challenging too.
In the higher levels it can get tedious, but there's enough variety that if I'm tired of one thing, there's always others I can work on.
They say that as of Aug 4th the membership price will go up to $5.95, but if you're a member before then, you stay at the $5 rate. (Check the website for details).
hah, you complain about not posting, I can beat that. -g- I kept meaning to speak up about the "heartless bitch" thing but... i... err... kind of do that kind of thing too well to really comment on the matter. -sheep-
As far as the kidlet's. moonshine246 mentioned Rappelz, same people as do Flyff and I think the graphics are equivalent. I am weaning myself off fantasy for scifi right now, actually, but she might try Phoenix Dynasty Online, pretty but translation difficulties, same with Perfect World. Chinese themed or influenced. Other than that, Shaiya is tolerable but my visual acuity is not the best so... have some salt. -g-
As far as textual, I have not settled down with one since I left Firan so I can not think of anything there.
I haven't played it in a VERY long time, but there's a korean game called Priston Tale that I used to play fairly often, and it was very satisfactory to me, once I got past the Engrish.
Guild Wars requires an initial investment to buy the game, but has no monthly fees, so that might work for you as well.
