Masterlist 76. When I was
If Arthur was surprised by Merlin tagging along with them, he didn’t show, but then again, she never had been very good on reading the boy’s moods.
He kept to himself during the entire drive to the movie theater and Merlin figures it’s a better idea just to focus on Morgana, who’s so anxious she’s bouncing on the seat.
As soon as they step out of the car, the younger girl localizes her date and makes a beeline towards him. Merlin smiles.
Gawain is a handsome boy; slightly taller than Morgana, with shaggy brown hair and green eyes. He smiles widely when he sees her and takes her hand. Besides Merlin, Arthur makes a displeased noise and she has to contain a giggle. How cute it was that Arthur was jealous of his little sister?
Merlin makes Arthur keep a certain distance from the young couple. Inside the theater, when Morgana and Gawain are separated from them by a few rows seats, she has to grab his arm to force him to stop.
“There are good seats over here.” Merlin points out and Arthur glances towards Morgana. “Come on, Arthur. Let them be, alright?” She tugs at his arm with a small smile and begrudgingly he follows her.
Halfway through the movie, Merlin notices that Arthur isn’t paying attention to the screen at all, instead, he’s glaring daggers at the back of Gawain’s head.
“Stop being such an overprotective fool. He’s not going to do anything.” She says rolling her eyes.
“He has his arm around her!” Arthur hisses through clenched teeth. “That’s doing something!”
“He’s twelve, Arthur. It’s completely innocent.”
“He’s thirteen, I checked. There’s nothing innocent about thirteen years old boys. When I was his age…” He cuts off abruptly, glancing at Merlin and even though is completely dark, Merlin *knows* he’s blushing.
“Yes?” She says with an encouraging smirk.
“Never mind” he says, obviously sulking if the way he crosses his arm over his chest is any indication. Merlin just smirks and lets it go.
