Fic - The Boy Next Door Series 78/? [Merlin]
Title: 78. Stares (The Boy Next Door Series)

Arthur can feel how tense and nervous Merlin is beside him when he parks the car just outside the school. He squeezes her hand lightly, smiling reassuring.
“It will be alright. Just ignore them.”
Merlin breathes in deep and nods, but she still looks a little green. They exit the car and walk inside holding hands.
Arthur can feel the stares following them, the surprised whispers… Merlin’s hand is trembling a little and he tightens his hold so she won’t let go.
“Finally!” Gwen exclaims with a smile when they meet her by Merlin’s locker. Arthur couldn’t be more thankful for the girl’s encouragement. Merlin had even managed a smile at her friend’s words.
“Oh! How adorable! They’re holding hands.” Arthur turns when Sophia speaks in a sickly sweet voice. “No wonder we didn’t work Arthur. I’m not related to you.”
Her words and tone are pure venom and Arthur could kill her at that very same second; especially when Merlin releases her hand from his grip and starts to roam her locker with exaggerated focus. All the work he had… Sophia smirks smugly at him.
“We didn’t work Sophia, because you have an inability to keep your knickers on whenever a guy looks at your direction.” Arthur retorts just as cruel and the girl flushes in mortification before stalking out enraged and embarrassed.
Merlin is looking at him stunned and Arthur takes her hand again.
“Anyone else would like to make a comment?” He asks to the crowd that had gathered to watch the exchange between him and Sophia. “Any clever remarks about me and Merlin and the fact that our parents are dating?” The only reply is silence. “Good. Go mind your own bloody business!”
Arthur turns to Merlin and closes the door of her locker.
“Come on. I’ll walk you to class.” He says, taking her books from her hand. Merlin sends one last look at the stunned crowd they leave behind before following him.

Okay, so, as promised, the results for the reference quiz.

Archie is the Nite Owl II ship. It was named after Archimedes, Merlin's pet owl.
2. - What The Carpenters' song am I talking about?
This was I thought everyone was going to guess. The song I was refering to is Close to You. I honestly think Arthur would crack up and Merlin would die of mortification to hear it coming out of her cell phone; especially this part:

And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon-dust
In your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue
