No NYC for me...

I haven't been able to secure a place to stay in or near the city this weekend, so i think it's safe to stay at this point that i won't be going to the Subculture + Style Symposium at FIT after all. I'm really bummed about this, especially since Rick Owens is one of the speakers and the subject matter is everything a fashion-geek-ista like me could

thanks, darlin.' i'd really appreciate that. i'd be going down thursday night, as the talks start early on friday. i had hoped to stay saturday evening so i didn't have to come back too late that night, but i suppose i could leave saturday right after the anna sui talk.

We're staying in NJ Thursday night (and hoping the drive in the next morning isn't too long ~ no idea at all where to park once we get there).

I hope you can find something. Having it be Valentine's weekend does seem to make it harder since a lot of people aren't as receptive to houseguests :(

there are some cheap (for nyc) hostels in the city, they're usually not skeezy!

no worries lady...i totally understand. the hostel thing isn't really an option for me. i don't think i'd feel comfortable going to one by myself and leaving a suitcase full of rick owens and ann demeulemeester crap there while i'm out (what can i say...i'm just not the backpack-traveling, one-outfit-wearing type).

if something changes i'll let you know, though. was hoping to get to the barneys warehouse sale and thought you might be interested in checking it out with me.

it's mostly the lack of privacy thing. i honestly feel weird enough about staying with people i know reasonable well...but sleeping in the same room and sharing a bathroom with strangers quite honestly creeps me out. yet another reason you'll never see me at burning-man type events...or shared a room in college, for that matter.

...yeah, i know. i'm a pain-in-the-ass snot.
