I wish! I still want to own my own plane, but I just don't know if it'll ever actually happen. The post 9/11 world makes it difficult for anyone to own. :

Why is it more difficult now?

At $16,000 per year simply to insure the aircraft, plus the high initial purchase price, hanger/storage fees and the fuel prices, it's just getting killer for folks to own airplanes of their own.

That's why right now, it's a dream and not a whole lot else.

*meh*

I guess the days that my dad grew up in and then I grew up in are gone. I remember when a new Skylane was $18,000.

A brand new, base Cessna 172 Skyhawk (so a 'step down' from the Skylane) is $234,500. Want AC? That's another $28k. That's a total of $262,500. That's over $100,000 more than I paid for my house, and over $40,000 more than it's approx. current worth.

Yeah, it's a bit different now.
