It was late but still not call from Jun. When Nino had tried the cell phone, it was turned off. His anxiety was rising by the minute, until he got a new message.
Sorry again, had been busy.

The sweet tone of the message lightened his heart and he fell asleep dreaming of his Jun. The next day he was waiting again, didn’t eat eating anything and he didn’t care. He now knew that something wasn’t right and he couldn’t stand being there just waiting.
He knew vaguely where Sho’s house was but that wasn’t enough, he needed the exact address and asking Aiba wasn’t an option; so, he gathered all the courage he had and called Sho instead. It was an uncomfortable and short conversation but he got to know not only the address. Sho said that Jun was locked in his room and he was worried too.
When he got there, Sho was waiting for him. It really was a beautiful house. No doubt, they were of a different status. Hastily Sho took him to Jun’s room, both avoiding looking at each other being in this peculiar situation.
“It’s locked but I guess he`ll let you in”
“Thank you. Do you how what’s wrong?”
“It’s not in my position to tell you, it’s only up to him. He did the same for me once” Sho smile sadly but he looked so much better that the last time they talked, Nino noticed.
“Sho-kun, I-”
“No need for that, Nino. I know.” Sho looked at him with friendly eyes “He needs you now. Go”
Nino nodded with and smiled in appreciation before knocking on the door. Nothing. He knocked again. Nothing.
“Jun-pon, it’s me, Kazu” Nino talked through the door.
Movement was heard inside the room and the door was opened.
“Kazu, what are y-” before he could continue Nino was already over him giving him a bear crushing hug. Jun relaxed and hugged him back, closing the door.
“I’m sorry babe, I’m sorry” Jun murmured in Nino’s hair.
“You have been using that word a lot lately” Nino smiled in Jun’s chest, trying to light up the mood.

“I have to go as soon as possible, Kazu. My mom needs me” Jun lowered his head.
“Your mom?”
They sat on the bed before Jun continued, “My father left us almost a year ago. He left with another woman and it really affected my mom. She began to chance, and little by little she was getting worse. She just stayed in the house crying or just spacing out. She never smiled and we almost didn’t talk; however I knew she was still waiting for him. I just..." Jun stuttered already in tears “I just pretended that everything was going to be okay so I tried to do everything for her, cleaning, cooking and taking care of everything. The good thing is that we had money so I didn’t have to find a job to support us. But something I felt so tired of the whole situation. I blamed him, and I blamed her too. Of course it was my fault too, I wasn’t strong enough and I was too proud to ask for help so I kept pretending that everything was
fine. One day, I got home and she was in the kitchen holding a knif-” Jun’s voice broke at the same time Nino hugged him tightly soothing his back.
“If I wasn’t there in that moment, she would… That’s when I decided to call my uncle, you know Sho’s dad, and he took care of everything. She is his sister and he was also scared when he saw her like that. Together we took her to a hospital. The doctors recommended therapy to get her out of his depression, so she was admitted to a clinic there. My uncle didn’t want to leave me there alone, so he brought me here. We had been going to visit her when the doctor says we can,” Jun was starting to calm down.
“But, that’s good right? She is getting all the help she needs. And you can blame yourself because you took care of her the best you could during all that time. You never abandoned her even you thought about giving up, because you love her,” Nino was giving him a calming smile as he caressed the sides of his face.
Jun bit his lips “I do love her. And that’s why I have to come back. They called and she’s ready to come home. She still have to go to therapy and the she’s on medication but they said that having a normal life is now the most important thing for her”
Nino understood everything clearer know and he knew he had to let go “Then you go. Don’t have any doubt. Just go”

“I’ love you Jun, nothing’s gonna change that. Not even the distance, okay? I’ll be mad at you if you stay here mopping around as today”

“Are you kidding? Right now I’m planning on how to kidnap you in the night and hide you in my suitcase… But your parents would probably miss you so I better discard that plan”
“You evil kid” Nino laughed “I could go there. I mean, I could ask them to let me go on holidays. I don’t think they’ll say no, they love you too much. Or do you not want me to go?”
“I want you to stay by my side always. I’m just afraid that the distance is going be too much for you”
“Speak you yourself. I’m much stronger that you think” Nino huffed.

Before Nino could protest Jun’s lips were on his again.

“Jun, we have to stop. Your uncles…” Nino urged him.
“They said they were going to a restaurant, they tried to make me go with them so no need to worry”

“You worry too much. If we’re quiet they won’t know and I don’t think they’ll care anyway”

After he hung up, he lay in bed let go of the tears he had been holding back since the moment Jun told him he was leaving. He had pretended to be calm to make Jun’s departure easier. But the truth was he was breaking inside. Alone, he allowed himself cry since the next day he’d have to put the façade on again. For Jun he thought, just for Jun.
In the morning he called Ohno and Aiba early to let them know about Jun’s departure. Of course they also wanted to be there to say good bye to his friend, so they insisted that they pick up Nino and go together, the three friends. They got there almost at the same time than Jun, Sho and Sho’s parents. After the presentations, their friends distracted the married couple to give the younger some time to be alone.
“It’s time?” asked Nino, already knowing the answer
“Yeah” Jun hugged his Kazu, not really wanting to let go and tears threatening to fall.
“Hey, no tears. I don’t want to remember tears”
“Okay, no tears” Jun smiled.
“You better be a good boy and not cheat on me or I’ll go there and kick your ass”
Jun laughed at his boyfriend mockingly “I’m sure you would”
“Hey! Don’t laugh! I’m serious” Nino tried to get free or at least pretended to.
“I know you are” Jun’s voice was turning serious “I’ll miss you so much, Kazu”
“I’ll miss Jun-pon too”
They kissed and even if they promised no tears, there were silent ones falling.
“Love you” Jun whispered.
“Love you too” Nino replied with a smile.
After they returned to their group, Jun asked to a crying Aiba and sleepy Ohno to take care of his Kazu for him, especially that he eats his meals properly. Then he thanked his aunt for taking care of him; when it was Sho’s turn, they didn’t talk, instead they just hugged with deep affection, and apparently they had already told each other what they wanted to say.
Before boarding, he hugged Nino one last time and smelled the scent from his neck, to engrave him in his heart until they meet again. After a quick kiss on the cheek, Jun was in the train waving good bye to everyone; while his Kazu stood there with a scar in his heart and a smile in his lips, waiving back.
