Bullets, that's how I'll update this thing

  • I've been very neglectful of my LJ, sorry friends
  • Lots happening in LaLa land
    • T revealed his true self by rescuing a feral kitten from a hunting buddy's trap (T doesn't hunt, but his buddy does).  We now have FOUR cats.  Taz expressed his displeasure by taking a shit on the Lad's bed.  It had to be deliberate, as the Lad's bed is a loft!  The irony ( Read more... )

If you ever need any advice with your new feral baby, just let me know. My mom is working through the same thing right now with her four cats and her newly added fifth feral cat.

Two of my mom's [now] five cats were feral kittens. They are definitely social cats and they are lovers...but they definitely have their quirks. Even though one of them was about eight weeks old when it was introduced to a home (the other was a few months old and she's kind of neurotic).

The one cat my mom is introducing to her house now is about five years old, never been inside. He's been in my parent's house for about two or three weeks. My mom set him up in a basement bedroom and my dad built a "screen" door for the room...so the cats can come to him when they're ready. Like I said, it's been two or three weeks and just one of the cats (the one that was a feral kitten) has finally started poking around. Takes a lot of patience...but it always works out in the end!

Good luck!

hey, thanks for the advice!

this would be our third feral, though the second one didn't quite take. We had her for several months and then she managed to escape when our relatives were visiting. We never saw her again :-(

Anyway, things are going okay. she lets us hold her and there's no spitting or hissing. T introduced the other cats today and of course Benson (our very dominant male) was all over her. Taz (my avatar kitteh) hissed, but that was about it. He's my feral kitteh success story. He's a sweetie! but very shy and a bit neurotic. He's 10 and you would never know he was feral. I think Bert is going to be a lot like him. She's quite passive.
