assignment?

I'm a bit confused about the assignment/55 pg LONG packet we had recieved awhile ago. I guess I kind of skimmed over the letter that came with it. So basically we have to write a reflection on each article along with the reflection of our academic goals? Wow they really got us working early

i didnt realize we had to reflect on the articles.... i though it was just the academics goals, and then to prepare for the lecture/seminar by reading the packet...uh ohh!

we basically have to write about a page long reflection on our personal and academic goals. Something of that sort.

haha, this packet. i dont know what the plan for it is this year, but ill tell you how it worked out last year:

during orientation week, there was a program that consisted of grouping into breakout rooms to experience a mini-seminar, which was essentially a really short lang class session. the feeling was that this brief assembly with people who have never been in a lang class (save the instructor and peer advisor) would cause you to understand how a lang class works. the source material for the classroom discussion was THE PACKET.

anyway, hardly anyone read it and most of the discussions became either periods of awkward silences and smirking or discussions about experiences so far, as well as advice for conduct and procedure in lang classes.

so no one really takes this seriously. but i dont want to tell you that you shouldnt read it (at least flip through it) because every year is different and maybe this year they will be doing something useful with it.

Haha, I had a feeling that might be what happens. I can't imagine that a lot of people will actually read the whole thing...if they even remember at all.

yeah i didn't think a lot of people were actually going to read 55 pages and write a reflection on each. I mean we're not getting graded on it. I might just skim over it.

so many people just said they never got it in the mail. if you ask me, which i suppose you did indirectly, very few of these articles are important...but some worth reading:

writing down the bones,
thinking with writing article about conceptual mapping (a useful tool in lang classes due to the strong tendency to go off on tangents - pg 37)

wow, are those really all thats interesting? it definitely seems so. my course packet is infinitely cooler, this is so comforting.

anyway, writing a response about this should not be hard at all. after flipping through it for a couple of minutes, a few ideas have popped into my head: 1. the (self) reflection on "the college experience" by adults and universities who really dont have a clue, 2. how articles on writing techniques are a complete waste of time because everyone is so completely different, 3. and that intense documentation on ways to remove stressors and reinforce comfort for incoming students frequently cause them to worry more.

hmm writing down the bones? Is that an article? I don't recall that being in the packet. Pg 37 is some kind of script on salvador dali. Im confused

oh, then nevermind.

these people were so good as to give the fuckin peer advisors a different packet than the peer advisees. looks like ill be joining the flock of people who wont be prepared in a few weeks. awesome.

i really don't remember reading that we have to write reflections on the articles, are you sure we have to? as for academic/personal goals, do you recall how long the reflection has to be? i have so many papers from the school and i can't seem to find this one, which happens to be the only one i really need.

two pages, double spaced? could probably be less, too.

ive demonstrated how inconsistant the school can be from one year to the next, but dont put much stress on writing this essay at all, especially not in regards to technicality.
