Yeah, there are several reasons I'm not 100% sold on the idea. But some of the people that scare me no longer play, and I don't feel less safe playing with many of them than when I was getting goated constantly by 4 of the best skaters in the country. I'm of the opinion that skaters that are for the most part equal skill levels aren't going to hurt each other. Accidents happen all over.
I only skated a couple of jams, and felt safe on all the jams I was on the track. There were a couple of ugly pileups when I wasn't skating, but I'm not sure if they just seemed particularly ugly because I was looking for them and expecting them to be.
But it's nice to be in an environment where people seem to be playing for the fun of the game and not the sport. The rules changes are interesting and make my strategy brain go Hmmmmm. After the last year+ of playing with CCRG and having my confidence just demolished and then spat upon (often my own fault!!!), this is exactly what I need. I hope.
