I was the same way when I borrowed my friend's MacBook. I was like, "..." and staring at it for a good hour before I manage to figure some things out. I mainly used her DVD burner, so.. I don't really know how to save images unless they are already on the computer (from cd to drive).. I figured out that the Program Lists is at the bottom and I think "Finder" is the same thing as like the "My Documents" or "My Computer" is in Windows.
It'll probably take awhile to get used to it. I still have my friend's MacBook (for round 2) and I'm still fucking around with it to figure things out. Good luck. <3

This is completely off topic but I was doing some reading for one of my art history classes and I turned the page and saw this picture and I was all "ZOMG its Heathyr!" I'm pretty sure you were this woman in another life. The picture in the book looks a lot more like you...uncannily so but this was the only copy I could find online and it just isn't the same so I'll understand if you agree but soon I'll get to the library at school, scan the book's picture and send it to you. It's creepy!

see in the above picture, her nose looks a little like it hooks downward but in the book you can see that it isn't the case...she's facing downward a little and her nose looks more like yours does. plus, this one makes her face look more round and flat than it looks in the book.
i don't know. perhaps you had some nobility in your family from the 15th century. the woman in this painting is unknown but is thought to be a member of the Cromwell family (apparently from Northern Europe). the inscription on either side of her head apparently says "21," her age at the time the portrait was painted. this was painted by Hans Holbein if you ever want to look it up. wouldn't it be awesome if she turned out to be a relative of yours somehow? or even better--if you really were her in a past life? hahah. weird!
