Cars, part the third

May 14, 2007 22:49

Okay, so I've test drove several different cars now. My top choice (at the moment anyway) is a Honda Civic and my second is a Saturn Ion. Does anyone have any good or bad comments on either of these?

I believe that Honda Civics are excellent cars; I have ridden in other people's Civics and like them, and I like my '05 Honda Civic Hybrid, although the hybrid part is not necessary for liking it. I don't know anything about the Saturn Ion but it looks like it might be OK?

Originally, I had been thinking that my next car would be a hybrid. But my next car has come a few years sooner than I was expecting. And I don't think I drive quite enough city type miles to make it worth while. Oh well. So my next car... :)

Saturn has an absolutely terrible reputation for quality and dependability; Honda and Toyota are at the top of the industry in those measures.

I've been told by others I should try driving the Toyota Prius. That is I think the final car I'm going to check out.

I've definitely liked other people's Honda Civics. I absolutely hated my Saturn (not an Ion)--there were many stupid things about it like the passive restraint seatbelts that tried to strangle me, or the fact that it was impossible to change the battery on your own. But my Saturn was a 93, and things may have changed since then.

Everyone I've talked to has seemed to like the Civics. I think the design of the Saturns have imporved a bit, but not being a car person I couldn't say much on the maintenance part of dealing with it. The Civic is sounding more and more like my next car. I just want to go drive a Prius and then decide from those.
