Uganda Heart Day 4
Refreshed. Mostly. My tummy is a little raw this morning but that might be because of the beer last night to celebrate a successful but long day.
Today's patients include much sicker kids. And it will be equally long with plans to do four cases. Coffee coffee coffee. This was the volume we wanted to have last year so no complaints.

Uganda Heart Day 3
A relatively uneventful day today. Conference was interesting and our list keeps changing which is not unexpected. My jet lag is in full effect. Despite what I think was a relatively good sleep I woke up feeling like a truck hit me. Both Dr. Ratnayaka and I slept in and didn't eat breakfast so neither of us ate until about 5. Four hours of sleep on a cardboard bed. It's not really cardboard, just felt that way. By day three it's gonna feel like a Hamilton bed.

Uganda 2013 Day one complete
Yay! Eight hours of work done to get the cath lab set up to run. Eight sweaty hours. It's about 80 degrees outside and 90 inside. But we got it all done. I couldn't sleep last night and the thoughts of writing my story in deep deep detail is what kept me awake. So, here it goes...Over the next months...perhaps years I will write my story. Here. Online. From my perspective. Perhaps a little askew in places but mostly starkly truthful. This will either be painful or cathartic in some way. Let's see -

I'm a little fed up with FB...so I'm going to make it more interesting to me by intertwining LJ...yes, I know, so many of you think LJ is passe...but I still think it has some relevance for me...or at least we'll see.
