I agree, that is a pretty weak-ass name for a dog. How is a dog supposed to get through life with a wimpy name like "Scout"? All the other dogs are gonna pick on him at school. Now Tactitus, there is a dog that will steal your credit cards and nick off to the Bahamas. Tactitus is a dog to be feared.

I think if I were a dog and my overlords called me Scout all day long, that may be the sort of thing to drive one to doggie suicide. Tacitus, on the other hand, suggests some quality of breeding, some refinement, that a dog is unlikely to appreciate. The canine Tacitus' Annals will include stories of devouring shoes and quaffing toilet water rather than tales of campaigns in Germania and politicking in Rome.
