This LJ welcomes discussion. If you have a problem with anything I've said, or disagree with a position I've taken, and want to tell me, respectfully, why you see things differently, I would love to hear from you. By "respectfully" I mean not calling me, or any of the people on my f-list, crazy ( Read more... )

Oh, the Internet happened. Someone from off f-list left a few comments on the WW/SM poll telling me all Chlarkers are vicious and disturbing and scary, which, aside from being completely irrelevant to the post and needlessly repetitious, got a little irritating.

I think you are handling things wonderfully and respectfully and you should be quite proud of yourself :)

Thank you. It was a little exhausting. If this ever happens again I'll just link to this post -- especially since I probably won't have another conveniently slow day at work again for awhile!

Thanks -- I left you a comment. Kind of a long one, actually. Hope that's okay.

You handled it great :) LOL at someone in fandom arguing that we are doing it wrong if we ship our own thing and not the pairing that the producers keep shoving down our throats. From that perspective then I guess we're all terrible people for not reading Clana fic for the first 7 years and Clois fic for the last three :P

You poor kid. If it helps, you were a ball of class and sass. but what made me LOL like mad was how this "disinterested party" who didn't even care just happened to have a cap of poor Tobes' post to share FROM FOREVER AGO. OMG, get over it! Somebody ranted! That never happens in fandoms!!!!

Oy vay. I know. I feel a little guilty about that because I was the one who linked to the fandom history site, and there's a screen cap of the post there. OTOH - if this person had really stayed out of this fandom for so long, how would she even know about it or that it was "famous"? I lurk in a couple of fandoms now and I don't have the least idea where to find the wank in most of them. Of course, I don't go seeking it out either. So that might have something to do with it...

LOL. I do sometimes seek out wank for the lulz (fandom_wank or the wank report sometimes competes with TV tropes as the best time suck ever), so I could see lurking on someone's LJ to see the wank ( ... )

See, now, I can actually see the fun of stirring the pot. Every once in awhile I think of some some made-up fandom "secret" that it might be fun to submit to that comm just to see what ensues, but then the part of my brain that thinks of itself as a grown-up (and also doesn't want to stay up all night for the next three weeks learning GIMP) butts in and kills all my fun.

But the beauty of that comm is that it's anonymous. I can't imagine the effort it would take to create a believable sock-puppet. I'd have to learn to stop inserting parenthetical thoughts into every other sentence. Never gonna happen.
