I just read a very interesting article in which the new Star Trek film is compared to journalism (or, perhaps, the other way 'round). Wow. Just wow
I've been a fan of airplanes since I was a kid. While I have always preferred prop planes (WW I & II vintage), there's something about war jets that's pretty nifty. Especially in this video, where an Israeli pilot of an F-15 a) survives a mid-air collision, and b) lands the plan missing a wing.

Another reason to let Florida sink into the Gulf
I'm fairly pissed about this article. Florida wildlife officials decided that a bear which had been struck by a car and had its foreleg broken in two places would be better off "healing on its own". My friend seticat posted this a while back; the wife and I just watched it, and were quite impressed and enthralled. As Seticat put it, it is simply an amazing piece of oratory. After watching Olbermann's voice catch in his throat more than once, I could do no less than repost this impressive video.
