I really, really want to read Como agua para chocolate. And not the English translation, either. Consider it my daring endeavor.

Am considering it. I started reading it a few weeks ago and now don't really remember much about it, and I don't especially remember if it was tough reading for someone who doesn't speak Spanish as a first language.

I do understand what you mean about not wanting to read its translation, though.

I think it would be amazingly cool to read a book in a language that isn't my first. Wooooo.

I started taking Portuguese tonight, I'm going to have one three-hour class a week. \o/

Honestly, I haven't read that much so I deeply thank you for not saying anything about it. I haven't read anything else by the author, though; what books do you like most from him?

I saw the movie adaptation of Como agua para chocolate a long time ago. I liked it (I would have liked it more if it wasn't dubbed so horrendously in English). If my Spanish didn't suck I would maybe read it. *laughs*

I think this is the first time I see something written from you that is in between these stars: *? Or perhaps not. I don't remember!

What was it dubbed in English?

Rare, but it happens.

It's called "Like Water for Chocolate" in English. Pretty interesting title, I think, I dunno how good "Come agua para chocolate" is.

It's the exact same thing, except for, you know, being in a different language. ^__^

(btw, je reponderai your email soon. God, is my French really awful?)

I really enjoyed 'Disturbia' too. I liked the music more than anything. There's this song 'Don't Make Me Wait' by This World Fair that's really gorgeous (I think the song comes up in the film when there's that first kiss).

I didn't really play attention to the music, except for this one song that made me stop watching the movie to google it. It's the one he plays on his iPod when she's having this party, and so ruin it. I can't remember the name, but it was soooo funny.

I had to buy over eleven novels for second semester, so if you ever need any book recs I might be able to supply some, lirl.

The only one I've read so far (The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien) was quite good. I like books where it's not exactly one cohesive story, but a series of stories, be they fiction or memoirs or both, that kind of... make a whole.

Yes, that will force you to read more, you slacker. I will not accept you not reading anything. (Besides fanfiction, of course.)

I've read a fair amount of stories that lead to one general picture, but not enough to say that I like them very, very much. I do, but I like lots of different books and different characteristics. Hm. Oh, OH. If you like series of stories that compile to one, then you should read Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Cronicas de una Muerte Anunciada. I know it is in Spanish, but I'm sure there must be an English translation; it's so good. We had to read it for school last year and I fell in love with it. It's one of my favourite books.

Oh, and the English title for that book is Chronicle of a Death Foretold, if you want to check it out.

THE THINGS THEY CARRIED FTW FTFW. <3 I read that in World History Honors my sophomore year, and I loved it. Pretty intense shit in that book.
