Deathly Hallows.

So, people, now that we know the release date of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, it's time for a poll:

Poll Deathly Hallows.

Please do this? Especially the first two questions. I'd reeeeeeally appreciate it. I have an idea for something that depend on these answers.

EDIT: WHAT ABOUT A FIVE CHAPTER PER DAY DISCUSSION?

book 7, poll, harry potter

Let me guess... a chapter-a-day comm? *laughs* I wouldn't wait for it to read the book, no way. Two or three hours tops, sure. *grins*

While I would love to read Deathly Hallows at some horrible, painstaking pace, taking notes, basking in the glory of the fandom, etc., having people finished with while I was still plodding along would kill me. Also, I would get sucked in and read, say, 500 pages instead of 50 within the first hour. So there's not exactly much point in planning for anything else, unless the book winds up sucking royally or something.

Other $0.02:

1) The release date is far too soon for me to psychologically prepare for this, and

2) If the fandom starts dying, I will probably cry. I am also betting that the end of this book is going to make me cry a lot, and I really don't want to be crying that much over Harry Potter.

3) Cool poll. :)

Oh, and I replied to someone's comment way above with this, but for everyone else wondering why the book's coming out on 21-7-07 instead of 7-7-07 or 31-7-07, it's because that's the anniversary of Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone's release.

*laughs* I think we are all torned up in reading the book as fast as we can, and the other half thinking about reading it as slowly as possible. But in the end, it's probable that most people will be too tempted to continue reading it, and so they'll finish it (me included).

1 & 2) I agree with you completely.

3) Thank you :)

I'd participate in a community where they read one chapter of DH per day, but only after I've read the entire book myself. The first time I read a book I don't like to break it up over several days. Even books other than Harry Potter I make a point to read within two days at most. Of course, I'll read DH within the first day I have it.

As for the release date, bittersweet is the word that comes to mind. I want this book, I want to know what happens, I want to discuss amongst friends, BUT I don't want something as fixed and important in my life to end. It's scary, when you think about it. I know it needs to happen, but I think I could have waited years if need be.

Of course, now that it is absolutely coming out this July my thoughts are as that this is going to be a summer to remember. OotP, DH, and Prophecy, weeks straight of HP euphoria.

PS,
I'm glad you haven't gone on hiatus yet.

Yes, yes, I think the idea of the chapter discussion would be best after we've all read it.

We're all feeling the same way, and as for the release date, I think that bittersweet is the best word to describe it. I don't want it to end but I'm praying for J.K.Rowling to finish it quickly.

Oh my God, Prophechy? As in the HP meeting?!

Thank you :) Although, now that I think of it, this is the last year of HP and I'm not sure I want to go into a hiatus. There won't be any other year like this one.

And I love your icon.

One chapter a day seems pretty reasonable.
