I've been attempting to read Brian Bates' The Real Middle Earth since maybe March, and the library have decided I can't renew it any more times, so it's time for me to buckle down and actually finish the damn thing.

I have been adventuring! (And am now spectacularly sunburnt for my trouble.) I didn't actually go see the Roman villa because it was a good ten miles from the car park I know how to find, but I climbed to the high point of the downs and had my lunch there in the sun and then read for an hour or so. It's nearly 9am and I haven't been to sleep yet. I got home from work at 5.30ish (and I really need to do a 'Let Me Tell You About My New And Exciting Job' post at some point), tried to sleep for half an hour, finished reading Cold Comfort Farm (which my parents are really into. I'd forgotten how much Return of the King makes me cry (and seriously, I hardly ever cry at films). It's not even the bits where people die that get me - though I will admit to tearing up at 'Don't go where I can't follow', because just gah - it's the theoretically happy bits, like Aragorn's coronation and the return to the Shire, every time.
