Vancouver Opera's current production of Rigoletto is kind of like a cross between Julie Taymor's Titus and a book of nursery rhymes, with a little added Cell Block Tango. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about that.
DIRECTOR: Seeing as I am no longer the correct age to sing treble, perhaps I will spare you all. There's a perfectly obvious pun to be made there, but I'm not going to do it. ME (brightly): The trouble with trebles? TENOR (sings): Nobody knows the treble I've seeeeen... DIRECTOR: *facepalm*
