Steadfast doesn't breathe the same way organics do, but she does draw in some fresh sea air as she, Wingblade, and Echoshift arrive on top of the elevator tower. The sky is clear and open and ready for them.
Steadfast continues flying, leading the way. The ocean is vast below, and the sky is wide above and around, spotted here and there with roiling clouds and - some small light overhead, like Venus in the daytime. But Steadfast knows that this isn't Venus, and diligent habit compels her to check on the unknown object, straining her long-range sensors to catch a glimpse of -
...a vessel that wears a Decepticon signature, with that special tinge to it that marks that which is Unicron-forged.
//The Dis!// she exclaims over comm to Echoshift, just so stopping herself from doing it out loud. //Lord Galvatron and the others are returning!//
That thought is quickly followed by a related concern. //Echoshift, Wingblade must not meet the Unicronians. They don't exist yet in her universe. It would lead to questions I would really not want to answer.//
Echoshift bites down on the immediate 'What? Where?' reaction and instead extends the sweep of his own long-range sensors. He manages to spot the orbitting form of the Dis after a few moments.
//Good sense of timing you had, getting us to head back when you did,// he comments. //You thinking of sending 'Blade someplace else for a bit then, to stop her from bumping into them?//
//...Starscream's back at Autobot City now, isn't he?// he then remembers.
Steadfast is appreciates Echoshift's quick thinking. //Yes, that's exactly what I wanted to do.//
Then that other concern interrupts what plans she has for keeping Wingblade out of the way. //Yes, he is.// There's something tense creeping into her tone. She remembers Cyclonus' reaction to the news of Starscream's presence vividly enough to imagine how he will react to meeting Starscream in person. What to speak of how Galvatron would react...
Starscream, whom Cyclonus bade her to not leave out of her sight, there, while she wasn't! It's not fear for Starscream's safety that makes her suppress a shudder. It is as she said - her allegiance is to Galvatron. Whether or not he should decide to forcibly divest Starscream of his body once again, she will not question her leader.
No, that creeping dread inside her is the thought of having neglected her duty. Even though her superiors can more than defend themselves, it would have still been her duty to guarantee their undisturbed arrival with her life. But she's not there, and who knows
( ... )
*Wingblade moves to fly closer to Steadfast, their air foils just brushing.* Of course I'd like to spend more time with them! *softer* I was hoping to spend more time with you though, Mama...
"And you will," Steadfast reassures her. In this life or the next, though I'd prefer it won't get that bad. "As soon as I have time for it." She is rather glad that Wingblade is in alt mode - at least this way, the winglet won't be able to give her those optics.
Echoshift stifles a sigh at the thought of being assigned the job of babysitter.
"You'll have plenty of time to spend with her afterwards, kiddo," he adds in reassurance. "The Acting Air Commander just has her boring job to do right now, that's all." A light chuckle.
The comm message to Steadfast bears a somewhat more serious tone. //You okay? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that you're worried.//
//I don't mind you doing whatever, as long as you keep her out of the way,// she tells Echoshift. //You're right, I'm worried. I left Starscream out of my sight, and now he's about to - run into people who might ever so slightly object to that.// When all else fails, use sarcasm.
What she really wants to say is, 'Shifter, I'm scared,' but that's not the kind of thing she can allow herself to say.
Echoshift spends a few moments attempting to work out how to answer that one, and eventually just gives up.
//...eh, you'll be fine. Lemme know when the coast is clear, okay?// There's a sigh over the comm channel. //And here's to hoping Autobot City won't be completely levelled when the two sides meet.//
He assumes she'll understand perfectly well what he means by the 'two sides'.
"Back to Autobot City now, right?"

He banks into a roll as they split directions. "C'mon kiddo! Let's go see if we can track down your sisters."
