I actually have to amend this entry by saying that after eating some more of the delicious quinoa and lentil supper that had been eating at the same time as the candy, the gross taste flared up so much that I was forced to conclude that it was actually the healthy food that had caused the taste (which, by the way, is still happening in my mouth right now, a full 48 hours after it began!). I had cooked this food on an unfamiliar gas stove and ended up burning it a bit. Maybe it was the burnt parts that caused the taste; it certainly wasn't the quinoa and lentils, both of which I often eat and none of which have caused this problem in the past. I am officially totally stumped. I am now drinking a quart of dandelion root infusion to help cleanse my liver and gallbladder, because apparently this kind of thing can be a symptom of gallbladder problems. But to answer your plea, I don't think you have to worry about the candy because unfortunately it wasn't vegan, so I'm sure you won't eat any anyway.
