I stumbled upon this group yesterday in my internet browsing looking for new friends.  I am an RM, though right now very inactive.  I was born into the church, then our family step away, we got back in after the divorce and my dad remarried.  I was the only one out of five boys (no girls) that went on a mission.  I served in Tempe, AZ from Dec 1996 ( Read more... )

Hi Patchz, welcome to the group.

I think you'll find us a pretty open and accepting bunch. I also try and stay on top of moderating the group so we don't have trolling problems. But if you don't see your posts or comments quickly, please feel free to IM me or shoot me an email. My information should be on my profile.

Again, welcome.

Thanks. I understand the need for moderation now-a-days. I'm pretty open myself aka "to each's own." I understand the need for church and its teachings, but it's not my place to judge people, though I might find many things appalling. It would be hypocritical of me to be closed minded. I know what I desire and dream is more of an impossibility, but that doesn't stop me from hoping it to happen.

Thanks. It was done by Felix Andrews. And if you can't tell; it's a cat (me), not a dog, in a WWII US Paratrooper helmet. US Para's were often called dogfaces in WWII and once I had the image in my head I had to have someone draw it. I think Felix did a great job.

I want to say that just because a bishop says something, that doesn't make it church doctrine. I might find wearing a tail to church a little... inappropriate, mostly just because other people wouldn't understand it, and it would cause a lot of confusion. (I can just picture some child going "but HE wears a costume to church, why can't I wear a costume to church?) But just because it's not approved by one bishop doesn't mean it's against God's will. What is and isn't God's will is defined by the scriptures, by the prophet, and by your own personal prayers with God.

And I find wearing a tail just for everyday wear to be perfectly appropriate! I don't wear mine to church but I've worn it pretty much everywhere else from time to time.

I never wore it openly in church, though I think I wore it once under a large duster coat I have one time, but I was inquiring with him of the over all concerns of me wearing a tail in the first place without going into detail of my transformation desires. I really wouldn't wear it to church, granted if I had my own then that'd be a different situation all together. Which I'd be glad to go back if that were the case. =P

The one scripture in the Book of Mormon that gives me the slightest bit of hope is Alma 41:4-5

4 And if their works are evil they shall be restored unto them for evil. Therefore, all things shall be restored to their proper order, every thing to its natural frame-mortality raised to immortality, corruption to incorruption-raised to endless happiness to inherit the kingdom of God, or to endless misery to inherit the kingdom of the devil, the one on one hand, the other on the other-

5 The one raised to happiness according to his desires of happiness, or good according to his desires of good; and the other to ( ... )

While I wouldn't be likely to wear a tail except perhaps at a con, I really don't see how wearing one outside of church has any bearing on your membership and even less relevance to the gospel itself.

I think the bishop in question probably meant his comment as to the affect that it wasn't appropriate to wear to church, as in into the church for Sunday worship. I can see why he might think that way, as BladeSpark points out, because it would be distracting and for the kids at least they have enough distractions. :)

Still and all, I'm not the best to speak here. I've been pretty inactive myself over the last several years and even more so since my divorce. I need to get back on track with my kids coming home but walking into the church when you "know" you don't belong there is a very tough thing to overcome.

I appreciate the insight regarding wearing a tail, though it really hurt at the time when I spoke to my bishop, the tail is just an expression of my greatest desire. A part of what I long to be, so, yes, I could have taken it a bit more personal, but I tend to do that alot ( ... )

greetings and welcome
i am an artist and as i know symbology is great in the world and through my studies the animal wich portrays u most usually has to do with personality and representation of such as well. u see a fox is on some cultures sly and a turncoat or somethign of dark and tricky as others it si a creature that knows much and is charismatic. one given the ability to speak swiftly in any situation they encounter. basically able to get out of tight places and much more.

if you feell liek talking any tiem jus say hey on im whenever u want

Yes the representations of the fox don't do this animal alot of justice, much like how the wolf is portrayed as evil. To me, the fox is more of a solitary creature, one who is very cautious in what he does, has the great ability to adapt to his environment, and a small creature trying to make it in a world full of others much bigger than he is ( ... )

there is a lesson we all learn though all our experiences.some are a lil more difficult to learn. i know what it is liek to be hard with speahc for me it is that when i make sence i sound like a fortone cookie or close to it. we all have a weakness. to find that happiness that you once had it is to seek a more long term verion of that happiness. or joy wich brings a better happiness in life.

well by your own description you are a fox what i had told you are two forms of a fox one the woldly version of a fox and the other the old or origionl beliefe of what a fox is.

to regain that hope is to find that trust that you once had before in those around you. it is a forgivness of yourself. that you need as well as to forgive thsoee who either wronged you or you have wronged.

And that is the hardest part for anyone to accept, is that our experiences are there to learn from, but it is difficult to try to push past the hurt. I feel like I do when I just put it away behind me, but when in fact it's under my fur. And I'll one day know that I've truly let it go and forgiven what's been done when I can find that happiness I used to have, because I won't till that burden is lifted off my shoulders ( ... )
