my first fanmix! Sherlock/John <3

Mar 03, 2011 20:08

This fanmix grew out from that one phrase. Once I heard it, and thought, “Sherlock,” my mind would not give me peace until I’d picked out enough songs to make a playlist. Because, you know, as much as Sherlock is a self-declared sociopath, John’s equally afflicted for being unable to step away, unable to keep himself from throwing into deadly ( Read more... )

Awesome hats-off to musical choices here. :3 the first time I listened to "Futile Devices" I also thought of Sherlock and John. Thumbs up also for Andrew Bird, Beirut, and Iron & Wine.

Oooh! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I am in love with the cover (your artwork!) and completely in love with your song choices. You obviously put a lot of thought and effort into this and it is a work of quality.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Will be put into my memories a.s.a.p. and will be downloaded! :)

Awww! Thank youuu <3 I'm so glad to hear it all worked for you. :D I thought about making a drawing for each song (after all, I was trying to stay under 30 min.), but it just got to be redundant and way too difficult. XD

Hope you enjoy the mix! Let me know how you feel about it after you listen to it...XD

I am listening to your mix again for the third time today and love it to pieces! I hadn't listened to any of the songs before, so it was a real treat to hear every one of them for the first time. "Oh No," "Zombie," and "Mendelsson" really stand out for me - they're absolutely beautiful!

Thank you so much for this mix! Brilliant! :)

8'D WOW. I'm so, so very glad you like it so much! The response to this has been pretty amazing, overall, but I'm so excited to hear it was all new to you. Please, enjoy, and I hope you keep listening and thinking of Sherlock...lol lol. (well, that's how it is for me now...I don't think I'll be able to dissociate these songs with S/J anymore. XD)

Beirut? Andrew Bird? Darling I am sold. This is one of the few Beirut songs I don't yet own too. I actually know a member of Beirut but I hate to pester him for CDs (and I have no monies to buy for myself).

On the Wings of Song is one of my favorite Mendelsson pieces as well. I love that you included some violin pieces. It's my second favorite stringed instrument, after the cello (which I used to play).

holycrap, that's so awesome!!! If you talk to him sometime, tell him that their music is really inspirational, please?.are they touring europe any time soon??

ooohhh, i love the cello!! it's too late to change my instrument now, and my hands aren't big enough to handle a cello...but its low, soothing tones are my favorite, too. Do you know Kol Nidrei by Bruch? That's my favorite cello piece at the moment, along with the Dvorak concerto. :3 You should try picking it back up sometime!

Right now they are planning a North American tour. They did a European tour not too terribly long ago and I don't know if they plan another after they wrap up N.A.

Yes! The cello is so mello (ignore the accidental rhyme), the range of sounds it can make are just lovely. I've always had large hands, even as a child when I first picked up the cello, so I had problems trying to learn the Viola which I first tried. I really want to pick it back up but 1. I don't have my cello anymore, and 2. University rules my life.

And no I don't know that song but now I need to look for it.

Oh no! Do you know when that will take place? I am going to be in London till June, but then I am heading back to Seattle...it'd be so, so nice if that's one of the tour stops during summer. :'D Are they selling tickets yet??

Yes, so true!! And you're so lucky with your large hands...so handy in the musical world. lol. yeah, uni just kinda takes over, but you should make room for it again post-grad. it'd be such a shame to lose your hard-won abilities.

I'll send it to you, if you'd like. :) It's hard to find, but I have a lovely recording of kol nidrei from this incredible compilation that i could upload to mediafire...

I wish I had your design sensibilities so that I could make better accompanying art...more professional and less literal. :'D I'm glad to hear that you like the coloring, though! I've never abused photoshop layer properties to such an extent before. lol lol

Ohhh, yay, yay! It's not too wordy? I just felt very defensive about my choices, so I crammed in tons of justifications...XD I do hope you enjoy the mix! Let me know what you think... <3
