Charlie and I had a conversation about photography once. I mentioned to him an opinion that a friend of mine holds; this friend believes that good photography is not really art, that it's merely a lucky person with a camera capturing a moment. Charlie immediately disagreed, and he cited you as an example: "My cousin Leah, she takes amazing pictures, and it's definitely not just the lucky capturing of a moment... she knows how to take a photograph, and she's good."
I absolutely see why he would have said that, and I think he was right.
I hear that argument about photography all the time, and I can see both sides. I think there is a point where a photo becomes art.
I really appreciate that he said that. Thank you for telling me. It's funny - I always name all of my electronic gadgets, but I'm not sure I ever told Charlie that my good camera (which I bought last spring) is named after him. He probably would have told me I was a giant dork - which I am.
I never name any of my gadgets (although I usually assign them genders, which goes to show you that I too am a giant dork after all), but recently I had to reset my iPod, and the screen came up that asks you what you would like to name your iPod, and I usually would have just put "Ana's iPod," but instead I named it Thomas, because I have a very distinct memory of a conversation Charlie and I had about names once, and he really liked the name Thomas.
