I'm glad you're safe and sound. I have to confess that I love enforced vacations: whether it's from minor illness, snow days, or city power outages, I always feel grateful when I'm forced to stay home for a day and do all my favorite things, guilt-free.
It has been really nice, definitely a guilty pleasure. One of my concerns, selfish concerns, beginning this school year was going directly from one job to another with no break or rest. Well, I'm getting my rest after all. I've been cleaning and quilting. It always feels so good to get projects done, and with some projects you just have to have a long drawn out period of time to finish them. The Texas Education Agency is even saying that schools don't have to make up the lost days, but I bet my district still does. We need to get all those days in.
*hugs* I'm very glad that your house didn't suffer a lot of damages.
I can definitely sympathize with the traffic lights problem: Houston's traffic is bad enough ordinarily--this is just really bad. And yay for cool weather! I've really been enjoying that as well.
