Well, the dress rehearsal was pretty good, but a bit unsatisfying in a couple of key scenes for me - and overshadowed by alexx_kay being struck upon the head by a sword, and needing stitches. I liked that fight, but we all thought it would be best to drop it for tonight's show, parts of it being so uncontrolled as to let that kind of injury happen ( Read more... )

Unless he does it outside the SCA, I think our choice was either Henry or Hamlet. I think Carolingia can support a Shakespeare production every two or three years, and by the time the next window comes round, he's likely to be a bit too old for the role - though one might stretch it.

Also, more or less on the grounds of playing nicely with others, some other Carolingian should probably direct the next big project, and some other actor should at least get a shot at the lead. :)

Well, I've always liked Hamlet, but a lot of my usual compatriots think of him as kind of an indecisive whiner.

Richard and Iago, the other two on the same scale, are both pretty interesting parts... but really, Mercutio or Dogberry would be a pleasing change, it seems to me at the moment.
