Hey everyone!

I've been really bad at writing anything for a while.  So I figured I should update.

This summer has been great so far.  I've been working a historical interpreter at Roanoke Island Festival Park in NC.  So yeah, I live on an island, which is wicked pretty.  I'm a 15 min drive to a beautiful beach, which is great when I can persuade

You do know the mystery of Roanoke Island, right? How all the settlers just disappeared?

yes, although it's no longer a mystery. We're pretty sure the settlers move to an island to the south that was larger and had more resources, and where they were welcomed by the Croatan Indians. They don't publicize this tho, because there is a lot of revenue from the play about here, the playwright wrote the Lost Colony in the 1930s and was a racist who didn't like the idea of inter-racial marriage, so he named it the lost colony instead of the abandoned colony as is the case. One of the people I work with is a descendant of the native americans in this area and is about to publish a book about it, but msot of the locals keep this quiet.

I was thinking of coming back here, my boss said to let me know in march if I was still interested. They like hiring teachers, you should come!! One of the people who works here in the summer is an 8th grade history teacher. I'm actually employed by the education department here.

i'd definitely do it, but i've decided that i need my summers off. i liked camp a lot and i didn't even do that this year. but let me ask you, whats the field trip situation? maybe if you do it again i will try to get a trip together. but you have to fly though right?
