This is very well-written, Meggers. I like the part about the bears.
To add on one thing that you said earlier during Boggle: What are the people who currently run the programs to help minorities and women going to do if this amendment passes? Are they just going to give up helping people? No, they will change the focus of their program to help anyone who needs the help, not just people of a specific race or gender.
I know it's hard, but is it possible to have faith in our society?
“I believe everyone should have an opportunity to compete on a level playing field. Programs such as affirmative action should be reviewed and improved, but not simply eliminated

you misunderstand. It's not ok to eliminate breast cancer programs or centers for the abused, and luckily this amendment isn't legally capable of doing that. What I said was if someone were to try to use the amendment to justify that, I would fight back.
When I say everyone, I mean everyone. Not everyone except white males. Everyone. I'm not against white males being in math and science, I'm for encouraging EVERYONE for being involved. And leveling the playing field and sayings like that are just saying we must all be painfully aware of race and gender in everything we do.
I'm sorry that we don't agree. I'd love to talk about this with you, but if you're sole purpose of talking with me is to change my mind instead of consider it, I don't know that you'll be very happy with the conversation.

In addition, UC’s Society of Women Engineers conducts programs such as Girl Scout Day to expose the world of engineering to K - 12 grade girls

All I can really add right now, is that if we get rid of AA, there will be nothing to replace it, and things will be disgustingly unequal. A kid coming out of Groves or Clarkston has nowhere near the same chance as a kid from the city going to Northern or HP high. Also, southeast michigan is the most segregated area (detroit is 2nd most dangerous city) in the nation, what we pretty much have is seperate and unequal
