The long belated and waited entry of my art exhibition.

Since I've waited too long, I'll just make this short and sweet as possible.

Anyways, the set up was really overwhelming, draining and stressful. It nearly killed it but it was worth it. Things were running slow and later than expected. I honestly thought it could've been better, the set up and everything like that based on how I used those 2-3 days to set up plus the feedback I got from the class.

Other than that, it was a success. Everyone's work including mines all looked nice in the gallery. As for the opening, I had a low turn out and I was a tad bit disappointed. Then again I picked a crappy week to have my art show since it fell during the holidays plus it was such a short notice. As the days went by, especially when Nhung and I were gallery sitting, the turn out started to grow. In fact, on the last day of our artshow, my exhibition piece, Tag Here (2007), my guerilla advertising on Vans shoes that I did for my graphic design class was pushed even further by plastering the ads all over the gallery. I was hoping someone would either decorate the ads, take it home, litter or do whatever to them, since I wanted my audience to put themselves in a situation where they are walking down the street or somewhere where they see this ad and decide to do whatever they want with it, and hopefully in an unconventional way, buy and decorate Vans shoes.

Anyways, the installation piece succeeded as there were ads all tagged and everything all thanx to Nhung and her friends as well as other gallery visitors. Sadly, the show was short live since we were only given a few days to have our work up. I wished we (meaning myself, Nhung, Summer & "Gnas") could've had a longer show so that more of our family & friends would've seen our artworks. Ah well.

In all, I am glad that I got to get a taste of all of the behind the scenes work in the gallery as well as currating an art exhibition. It was very overwhelming and stressful since I'm not used to being placed in a very responsible & demanding role which requires extensive leadship skills and being out in the open since I see myself as a shy, reserved and quiet follower that usually hides out. I may consider currating/getting involved in exhibition work sometime in the future and apply what I had learned in the Art Exhibition class.

I really want the thank the following people for making this exhibition possible:

Nhung T., Summer G. & Sang T. aka "Gnas" for being part of this show, for your time, dedication, artistic talents and all of your help for making this show possible. If it wasn't for all of you, this show wouldn't even existed at all. In all, I am so proud of you for putting up such wonderful artworks that made our art show amazing. :D

Mary Rose for all of your all around help & time, and teaching all of us the behind the scenes work of the art exhibition as well as having us appreciate other artworks even more whether it's critiquing other people's art shows or those amazing museum trips we went to. I really learned a lot from you, and you gave so many helpful advices to becoming a better person and artist. I'll take your advices from the class and apply them as I further my artworks as well as my personal skills when dealing with the artwork. Once again thank you!

Charles for teaching us all of the behind the scenes gallery work, including putting up some of the work up and putting up with me. Much greatly appreciate it.

To everyone in my Art 75 class: Luis, Schubert, Shawnte, Maria, Claudia, Herbert, Abby, John, Pamela & of course Nhung & Sang - whether you guys helped me put up work and clean up, all of your feedback during critique, showing up to my opening, or simply being amazing artists by putting up an amazing art show, I really thank you so much for everything you've done. I really appreciated it and I'm so glad I had you in my class. It's been almost a month since our class ended, and I already miss you guys plus Mary Rose & Charles. I also miss those days when we'd be setting up and cleaning work, hanging out in the gallery, and the museum trips. Best wishes and best of luck this coming Fall. I hope to have you in any of my classes or at least run into you. :)

To Ben for letting Nhung and I stay overtime to print our work and having to put up with us. Much greatly appreciate it.

For David & everyone in the Art 56 class for being understanding when I had to juggle between working on the exhibition and helping you all out during class. Also, thank you for those of you who were able to check out the exhibition. I hope it gave you all inspiration and I really appreciate all of the support you have given me. I miss you guys as well, but the same thing I said to Art 75.

To all of my family and friends & gallery visitors, especially hockeychix98, rosaferreum, girlasleep & her sister Naomi, and everyone who were able to check out my art show or better yet go to my art opening with such short notice. This exhibition wouldn't be possible w/o your support. For those of you who missed out, I'm very sorry you did. You really did miss out, but at the same time I wished I had a longer show so that you all would've had a chance to check it out. Hopefully next time.

Nommie puckplayer42 for helping me every bit of the way, for all of your support, and having to put up with me through the toughest times. I am so glad you were able to be there for me. I love you dear.

Most of all, God for being there and helping me out as I was going through so much as I was preparing for this show.

If I left anyone off, please let me know -k-. Thanx a ton! ^^

Anyways, that's pretty much it as far as the art exhibition goes. I'll leave you w/ some pix from the opening and other days in the gallery. If you have any difficulties seeing the pix, please let me know. I'll try to find an alternative photo hosting. Also, please let me know if I got any tags or captions wrong. Thanx again!

After the art opening, we took hockeychix98 back to Anaheim. On our way to her hotel, we saw a sign at some strip joint that said "cock", although it's supposed to read as "cocktails" but the last few words were burnt out. Also, since I hate/dislike the Ducks so much that I make fun of them, I thought the sign was hillarious since it congratulated the Ducks for winning the cup. So we ended up going back to that strip joint where I took some pix. I also altered the sign all thanx to my photoshop skills. [Pix under the cut will NOT be Ducks friendly, so beware!]

From there on, puckplayer42, rosaferreum and I went to Manhattan Beach for dinner & to celebrate. We ended up going to this bar called OB, which is right next door to Harry O's/360-a hotspot for Kings players. puckplayer & rosaferreum were very intriged over the "Taco Tuesday" contest and they want to try it out in the future. The food was excellent (I had a taco and it was a huge! No wonder why they have those Taco Tuesday challenges), the service was great and so on and so forth! I am so going back to OB whenever I get a chance to go back to Manhattan Beach.

(You may get this if you're a Ducks hater or saw that one pic of Chris Pronger holding the Stanley Cup.)

You can't see the burt out sign that says "cock" all thanx to the flash.

Well, I'll end this now. Till then, have a wonderful day. :D

[Comments Appreciated! Thanx a lot!]
