Last night I slept on a Swiss Army air matress in my empty apartment. I managed to miss the fact the Bob Schneider was playing here in Boulder at the Fox Theater on The Hill, CU's neighborhood, while I was instead listening to Jack Johnson-allied jam band Animal Liberation Orchestra (A.L.O.) in Denver. Although ALO was enjoyable, and I had a great mid-concert call with Chelsie, I would have loved to see Mr. Schneider live. I just imagine that he'll play again some time around wherever I might be.

I'm picking up the guitar and finger-picking again. It's great.

I paid for a ticket to see Jack Johnson and Ben Harper at the Starlight in Kansas City several years ago, just after Johnson released On & On. It both sucked and blew. Reason 1) I had just bought a new pair of Adidas (pristine white) which I had to remove to avoid ruining them; Reason 2) you see, it was raining profusely, and, as it turns out, the Starlight is an outdoor theater; Reason 3) going barefoot, I felt completely retarded, so much so that I wish now I had rather chosen to ruin the shoes; Reason 4) the concert itself was lame, uninspired, preceeded by an hour with Kid Koala pimping a graphic novel about two robots who fall in love, begun with Jack Johnson playing mellowly (which would have been fitting, had we been in the Aloha State) in the drizzle, and rounded off with an half hour of nothingness while they amped up and prepared lights for Ben Harper, who, when he did finally play, seemed unenthused... Come to think of it, maybe it was the crowd that was unenthused, but either way it made the concert feel moribund and ( ... )
