I thought Athena was a stupid call sign for Sharon. "Toaster Babe" would have been awesome. I liked Chromedome. However, Athena was a character in the original version - one of the Adama clan - so I'm not surprised they've picked up on it.
I wonder if the other five aren't other models which went in a completely different direction from the rest of the Cylon and separated off. I've been expecting a Cylon civil war for some time - I wonder now if I called it right, but much too late. I'm wondering if it already happened.
(There's also the question about whether the "hybrid" is one of the 12 models, but I'll assume not. I had been including raiders and base stars as models from the start, but seem to have been wrong about that.)
Athena's myth is essentially that Zeus and Hera got into a fight, swore they didn't need each other, and tried to reproduce on their own. Hera ended up creating Hephaestus (who was lame,) and Athena sprung from Zeus' head, fully clad in armor and being generally badass.
I don't think the hybrid is one of the twelve models, either. I don't think they would have referred to her as "the hybrid" if she was one; they call each other by numbers, sometimes, or names, don't they?

I also am inclined to think that the hybrid is not one of the twelve models, but I need to rewatch the episode because I'm sure I missed a good deal.

Interesting theory on who the final five could be.

I think that "Number One" is probably the sole creator of all the other models. And that he probably looks like Baltar.
The other four are probably just "deep(er) cover" models, or have some other special ability or factor involved.
