Subject says it all.  I am six months from my next birthday, and I am going to kick up my weight control efforts to lose 20 pounds by then.

I spent the long Columbus Day weekend in the Jamestown/Williamsburg/Yorktown triangle with the family.  We got to Jamestown and Yorktown, but not Williamsburg (but did go to Busch Gardens Europe).  All were what I expected of them, and a good tiyme was had by all.

Saw this on Slashdot: the IOC has managed to get the Canadian government to allow for the assertion of trademark protection for the phrase "with glowing hearts" from the Canadian national anthem, as well as the number 2010 and, if you can believe it, the word "winter".  This was a quote from the article:

My wife and I had a line on a pair of tickets for Kathy Griffin's Friday night show at the DAR Constitution Hall, but it fell through, so we tried again for last night's show.  We were simply amazed at our luck: Orchestra, Row E, 1st and 2nd seats off the center aisle.  Kathy was no less than 25 feet away from us!  Incredible seats ( Read more... )
