Monday was 'go to town and look for coins' day. We stopped at my mother's place of employment: The Trout House restaurant, where we had breakfast (loved the Dungeness crab benedict), and sitting by a pond off of the Sun River was a lovely scene that enhanced the meal:

Field report: trip to Oregon - day 1
Saturday:
I left Washington-Dulles as ther leading edge of TS Hanna made its presense known. Slight weather delay before take-off, then an uneventful trip to Atlanta, where I faced a 2-hour layover.
Had 'lunch' at a place that serves Southern-style food; this was preferable to Pizza Hut, Chick-fil-A, or the other restaurants that normally dot the ( Read more... ) -

Ok, so this was the plan: work a full day on Monday, then arrive home to a packed mini-van and 4 passengers, all ready to drive the 4 hours or so to Cape May, NJ; bought a wireless router to hook up to Grandmom's cable modem, and work from her home while the family enjoys the beach and attractions in South Jersey ( Read more... ) -

Trust
I am in the middle of a fight with a nasty virus, "AntiVirus XP 2008", just the sort of name that you would want to trust to be working for you, and not against you. My son ran into it, and was wise enough to call me before doing anything (I hope). He described to me that a program with "antvirus" in its name was saying we had hundreds of viruses ( Read more... ) -

I was watching the Olympics Opening Ceremony Friday night, and I saw something that I simply couldn't believe I was seeing, except that I knew that I was... I thought to myself: someone is digitally recording this, and will post it. Lo and behold, someone did. -

Just spent another 8 hours in the minivan shuttling between home and State College, PA, this time to retrieve my 13-year old son from Lacrosse goalie camp.
