So, I went to the National Museum of Scotland's exhibition on Mary, Queen of Scots, which was very interesting and made me a bit more sympathetic to her on the grounds of her intelligence (though, good god, did she have bad taste in me). I was a little surprised to find they were selling replicas axes for the kiddies in the exhibition shop. Perhaps ( Read more... )

Replica axes? BUH? WTF? It's like some kind of scary existential jokester was in charge of the gift shop. No wait, there WAS such a jokester in charge. I see the vast potential for similar objects being sold at the Tower of London. ;)

There was a very happy child running around trying to chop their sister's head off with one. So I guess there's that - their mum clearly wasn't going to buy it for them, though!

That just feels like something they'd do over here in the U.S.

I had read about this exhibition and wondered if I should be jealous ofthose who got to see it or not.

I'm going with jealous. At least a little.

It did make me a bit more sympathetic to her. But she had superlatively bad taste in men.
