I am not generally a Roberston Davies fan, but......

"I don't really care how time is reckoned so long as there is some agreement about it, but I object to being told that I am saving daylight when my reason tells me that I am doing nothing of the kind. I even object to the implication that I am wasting something valuable if I stay in bed after the sun has risen. As an admirer of moonlight I resent ( Read more... )

i always thought robertson davies was one of the driest crackers this side of the atlantic, but your excerpt has me retracting such thoughts. i love a good stab at the protestant work ethic.

this spring time change is all kinds of good, it's the autumn turning back of the clocks i fiercely hate. if we never turned em back, we wouldn't have to turn em forward this time of year. who fucking cares if it's dark in the morning? if the sun doesn't rise until 9:30am, well, wait a minute, i'll still be in bed not giving a shit, so...

you tell them, jen.

it's the other way around. they change the real time in the spring so that we have to change it back in the fall.

and i feel like we lose an hour of sleep (and life in general) in the spring and then in the fall we lose an hour of evening. when do i get anything?

this whole thing is economic. the tourism industry makes more cash with DST so they get to mess with the rest of us while they get fat.

i'm with you, jen. it bites.
